As Bangladesh is a populated country, there are several challenging problems in daily life. It becomes difficult to maintain or ensure all types of service. As a result, Bangladesh Government launched a National Hackathon Contest in 2014 where young programmers tried to solve some national problem using software or mobile app.
There were ten problems that are given below:
1. Traffic Jam
2. Question Paper Leak
3. Sexual Harassment
4. Cyclone Center Management
5. Rise of non-communicable diseases
6. Water Transport System
7. Sanitation Behavior Change
8. Corruption
9. Reproductive Health
10. Road Safety
In this contest, our team worked on Sexual Harassment problem. We have developed an app that help user to send emergency message to his/her relative just simply shaking the mobile. Parents can trace their child location through our app. Any victim can share his story by hiding her name. User can see a map that represent the most alarming zone in red color. User can search any information about state law against sexual harassment. That means, we tried to create awareness among all general people against the crime. In this contest, our team got the runner up position in Sexual Harassment problem.
What is Hackathon?
Hackathon are globally recognized marathon coding events. Hackathon is a gathering where programmers collaboratively code in an extreme manner over a short period of time.Developers, innovators and designers join hackathons in teams of 5 people generally to build innovative prototype to solve some given problems sets. Hackathons are ultimate exhibition of skills for developers.
